Role and Responsibilities

• Oversee all departmental activities ensuring smooth operations.
• Take accountability for the accuracy and completeness of all laboratory-generated reports.
• Manage staff duty rosters, ensuring attendance aligns with the schedule.
• Engage in developing both new and existing laboratory techniques.
• Participate in quality enhancement and continuous improvement initiatives within the Molecular Genetics department.
• Conduct testing and verification of all critical and alert values before report release.
• Recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions as necessary.
• Train team members on organizational policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with occupational safety and health protocols by all employees.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information.
• Process testing of highly infectious disease samples following prescribed procedures.
• Adhere to testing policies and public health reporting guidelines for suspected and confirmed cases.
• Implement preventive measures to mitigate occupational safety and health risks.
• Monitor availability and proper usage of IPC and PPE, including correct disposal methods.
• Report to supervisors or appropriate authorities any personal mental health challenges or workplace concerns.
• Communicate adverse reports or investigations to management personnel.
• Assume Senior Executive or Executive responsibilities during absence of Team Leader and vice versa.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Preferred Candidate Profile

• An advanced degree (Master's) in Human Genetics, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, or Computational Biology along with relevant academic projects or internships.
• Strong foundational understanding or internship experience with Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) and basic variant filtration methods.
• Demonstrated adaptability with a keen interest in learning clinical data privacy standards and genomic data management.

Eligibility

Applicants should hold a B.Sc. in Biochemistry, Bioinformatics, Microbiology, Genetics, Biotechnology, or Life Sciences, or a B.Tech/B.E. in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or Bioinformatics.
