Job Overview

As a Generator Winder, your daily tasks involve carefully dismantling, examining, winding, rewinding, repairing, and refurbishing generator rotors while strictly following original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications, stringent quality benchmarks, and safety protocols. You will carry out precise repair operations, maintain exhaustive documentation and traceability logs, and guarantee that generator rotors are restored to fully operational condition to serve utility, industrial, and power generation clients effectively.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out rotor winding, rewinding, coil setups, lacing, slot wedging, and insulation replacement precisely according to OEM blueprints and technical specifications.
• Manage disassembly, detailed inspection, repairs, refurbishments, and reassembly of rotors during extensive overhauls and maintenance assignments.
• Perform and assist with electrical diagnostic testing, including resistance, insulation resistance (IR), polarization index (PI), continuity, and Hi-Pot tests upon authorization.
• Detect and assess winding flaws, insulation deterioration, loose coils, and mechanical faults while ensuring all work adheres to quality standards and traceability requirements.
• Follow environmental health and safety (EHS) rules and lockout/tagout protocols, keep meticulous repair and testing records, and promote a safe and orderly workshop environment.

Candidate Profile

• Possesses a technical diploma or trade certification in Electrical Technology, Electrical and Mechanical (E&M) Winding, Power Engineering, or related fields.
• Holds proven practical experience in generator rotor winding and rewinding, with deep knowledge of various winding methods, insulation materials, and rotating electrical equipment.
• Capable of interpreting OEM drawings, winding schematics, technical manuals, and standards from leading manufacturers such as Siemens, GE, ABB, and Mitsubishi.
• Experienced in carrying out electrical repairs, applying insulation, performing testing procedures, ensuring quality control, and keeping full traceability of components, measures, and procedures.
• Strong focus on safety and excellent attention to detail; previous work experience in generator repair workshops, power plants, or overhaul/shutdown contexts is essential; familiarity with Vacuum Pressure Impregnation (VPI) and epoxy insulation systems is advantageous.
