Role Overview

The Generalist role supports a wide array of programmatic and administrative operations across GIZ’s initiatives based in Addis Ababa. Daily duties encompass coordinating project logistics, assisting with documentation and report preparation, facilitating stakeholder communication, and aiding in monitoring and basic data gathering. This position requires strong collaboration with various teams, organizing meetings and workshops, and ensuring prompt action on follow-ups. Additional responsibilities include creating presentations, preparing correspondence, and maintaining well-organized records to guarantee effective project implementation. This is a full-time position requiring consistent on-site presence at the Addis Ababa office and project venues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the logistics associated with various project activities.
  • Assist in compiling and managing documentation necessary for project reporting.
  • Support communication efforts with diverse stakeholders involved in GIZ projects.
  • Contribute to monitoring efforts and perform basic data collection tasks.
  • Organize meetings and workshops and track action items for timely completion.
  • Prepare presentations and draft routine correspondence.
  • Maintain organized project records to facilitate smooth operational workflows.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Excellent organizational and coordination skills, including scheduling and documentation management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities for drafting clear emails, notes, and reports.
  • Proficiency with common office software such as word processors, spreadsheets, and presentation tools.
  • Competence in digital collaboration platforms and tools.
  • Capability to analyze data, maintain precise records, and assist with monitoring activities.
  • Reliability, keen attention to detail, and skill in managing multiple assignments methodically.
  • Team-oriented with an eagerness to learn and operate respectfully across multicultural and interdisciplinary settings.
  • Relevant post-secondary education in social sciences, business administration, development studies, or similar fields, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Interest or knowledge related to international cooperation, development programs, or public sector initiatives in Ethiopia is advantageous.
  • Professional working proficiency in English; knowledge of local languages is beneficial.
