Job description
Position Overview
The General Utility Worker ensures kitchen areas, equipment, and dishware remain clean, sanitized, and organized. Supports food preparation tasks and upholds the company’s core culture values.
Key Responsibilities
- Scrape and pre-rinse food residues from soiled dishes before placing them into the dishwasher (50% of work time).
- Clean pots, pans, and trays by hand or using machines (15%).
- Perform all assigned food preparation tasks (10%).
- Remove trash and transport garbage to the dumpster area (10%).
- Sanitize work tables, walls, refrigeration units, cooking appliances, and floors (5%).
- Clean garbage cans and trash containers (5%).
- Set up, maintain, and break down dishwashing machines (5%).
- Handle cases weighing up to 50 pounds up to 20 times daily.
- Organize plates, utensils, pans, and cases on shelves of varying heights.
- Work primarily indoors (90%), with some tasks performed outdoors (10%).
- Adapt to working in hot and humid conditions.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to emergency situations to ensure safety.
Physical and Mental Requirements
Language Skills: Ability to comprehend and interpret various written materials such as contracts, manuals, and instructions; capable of writing routine reports and effective verbal communication.
Mathematical Skills: Competence in solving practical problems using concrete variables with minimal standardization and interpreting multiple forms of instructions.
Physical Demands: Frequent sitting, talking, hearing, walking, manual dexterity to feel and handle objects, and reaching with hands and arms. Must tolerate wet floors, temperature fluctuations, and loud noises. Ability to bend, stoop, and regularly lift and carry dish racks of up to 40 pounds. Standing for long durations and moving between areas is essential. Close vision and focus adjustment are necessary.
Psychological Demands: Ability to collaborate within a team, adapt to fast-paced work settings, accept changes flexibly, and communicate effectively in verbal and written forms.
Work Environment
