General Technician

About the Role

Holiday Inn Abu Dhabi seeks a dedicated General Technician to ensure the seamless operation of the hotel’s facilities and equipment. As the pioneering Holiday Inn property in Abu Dhabi with 203 contemporary rooms, the hotel boasts multiple dining venues including Silk Route Café, Thirty 1st Bar & Lounge, Hubbly Bubbly shisha café, and Stock Burger Co. This role is central to maintaining a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for guests and staff alike.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine repairs and preventive upkeep across guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house zones.
• Respond expeditiously to maintenance requests, ensuring repairs are done safely and with quality workmanship.
• Conduct basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance tasks.
• Inspect equipment and infrastructure to detect faults, reporting significant issues to supervisors.
• Adhere to preventive maintenance schedules and maintain thorough records of completed activities.
• Comply with hotel policies, international IHG standards, and local health and safety regulations; report hazards or unsafe conditions promptly.
• Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organization of tools, equipment, and engineering work areas.
• Assist the Engineering team during emergencies, operational breakdowns, and other critical situations.
• Exhibit professionalism and helpfulness in all interactions with guests, colleagues, and contractors.
• Utilize hotel resources prudently, supporting sustainability initiatives and Responsible Business commitments.
• Demonstrate flexibility by undertaking additional duties as assigned by the Engineering team.

Candidate Requirements

• Must have legal authorization to work in the UAE and prior experience in a comparable position within an international hotel.
• Possess technical knowledge covering plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance.
• Competent in safely handling common hand and power tools as well as maintenance equipment.
• Understanding of preventive maintenance techniques and ability to follow scheduled maintenance plans.
• Awareness of workplace safety protocols and compliance with local legislation.
• Adept at problem-solving by identifying faults and applying appropriate corrective measures or escalating issues when necessary.
• Effective teamwork and communication skills for professional engagement with guests and cross-department collaboration.
• Education level preferably includes a high school diploma, technical certification, or relevant vocational training.
• Availability and willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays as per operational demands.
