General Technician

Job Overview

Working under the supervision of the DOE/CE/Duty Engineer (Common Area) or their designated representative, the General Technician ensures that all hotel equipment operates efficiently in line with hotel standards, guaranteeing optimal guest satisfaction.

Candidate Profile

• Proficient communication skills in English for effective interaction with guests, colleagues, and management.
• At least two years of related experience within the hotel industry.

Primary Responsibilities

• Execute routine preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
• Manage ordering and monitoring of essential supplies like fuels, lubricants, and spare parts.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in plant rooms.
• Possess broad technical knowledge to address minor issues across departmental areas.
• Handle various repair and maintenance jobs across hotel premises, including extensions or additional properties managed by the hotel.
• Support implementation of the preventive maintenance and repair logging systems.
• Train team members in correct equipment operation, safety protocols, and cleaning procedures.
• Contribute to staff meetings focused on equipment operation and maintenance best practices.
• Inform superiors about repair progress, costs, and recommend equipment replacement when justified.
• Document daily service activities, including labor hours and replacement costs.
• Maintain and repair guest room and common area facilities, lighting, furniture, and equipment.
• Prioritize tasks aligning with guest requests and management directives.
• Maintain adequate inventory levels of parts.
• Implement maintenance programs within set timelines.
• Conduct and record regular inspections of plant and equipment through computerized systems.
• Ensure documentation files and resources are updated for future use.
• Provide daily reports summarizing completed work.
• Promote and integrate environmentally sustainable practices.
• Use recycling methods effectively and efficiently.
• Adhere to Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) policies, ensuring all activities meet safety standards.
• Exercise duty of care and comply with health and safety legislation and procedures.
• Be knowledgeable about property safety, first aid, fire, and emergency procedures, operating equipment responsibly.
• Take initiatives to mitigate hazards and inform supervisors about potential dangers.
• Record security incidents and accidents per hotel guidelines.
• Carry out maintenance programs per Marriott brand standards and local legal requirements.
