Position Overview
Joining Walmart Canada as a General Merchandise Associate offers a valuable opportunity to develop skills within a dynamic retail setting. The role focuses on delivering outstanding customer service in line with Walmart’s core values, ensuring a well-maintained and inviting sales floor, and assisting in stocking and sales operations throughout the general merchandise section. This position suits individuals passionate about customer interaction and retail excellence, aiming to enhance the shopping experience effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide welcoming and professional customer assistance by greeting shoppers, aiding product choices, promoting selected items, helping locate merchandise, facilitating purchase decisions, and managing customer concerns or directing them appropriately.
- Maintain assigned sales floor zones, support front-end operations as necessary, and coordinate with team members to ensure continuous coverage and customer satisfaction.
- Organize and clean the sales floor to keep it tidy and shopper-ready, reposition feature products to correct locations, and handle recovered merchandise from service desks and other store areas.
- Stock shelves, fulfill picking duties, execute downstocking tasks, apply necessary product protections, and arrange modular displays including flex modulars and shelf caps.
- Uphold a safe and clean workspace by adhering to company policies, completing safety checks, and ensuring all displays and fixtures are securely positioned.
- Demonstrate flexibility by working diverse shifts—including evenings, weekends, and holidays—as required to maintain smooth store operations and consistent customer service.
Challenges in this Role
- Effectively manage high-volume, fast-paced tasks especially during overnight shifts by planning to sustain energy and focus.
- Consistently perform physical duties such as standing long periods, bending, and lifting items weighing up to 20 lbs, sometimes up to 50 lbs.
- Perform repetitive stocking, zoning, and organizing tasks meticulously to maintain store standards.

Compensation
The minimum hourly wage starts at $16.15.
