About the Venue and Role
Open Pantry Co., in collaboration with Blue Gums, is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead one of the region's prominent large-format pub venues. Blue Gums combines a variety of features under one roof, including a bistro seating over 150 guests, an alfresco area that accommodates 50, a gaming room with more than 30 machines, a sports bar with seating for 70-80 guests, a Thirsty Camel drive-thru, and seven accommodation rooms. The operation is sizable and supported by a steady team of 30 to 35 members.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the South Australia Operations Manager, this position entails full responsibility for the day-to-day running and overall performance of the venue. The General Manager will oversee a skilled second-in-command managing the bistro and will lead the established management team across the kitchen, retail, and gaming segments. Primary objectives include strengthening and stabilizing the existing team, fostering a positive and enduring workplace culture, and driving growth across all revenue sectors of the venue.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a seasoned pub General Manager with hands-on leadership experience managing large-format pub operations. Essential competencies include strong expertise in food and beverage management and a thorough understanding of compliance within a gaming venue setting. Excellent people leadership skills, a history of building and maintaining effective teams, and a structured, energetic approach coupled with a growth-oriented mindset are critical. Although gaming experience is preferred, training will be provided for suitable candidates.
