About the Role
The General Manager Operations will oversee comprehensive plant operations to ensure safe, efficient, and profitable manufacturing activities. This role encompasses driving production, maintaining quality standards, coordinating maintenance and production planning, facilitating supply chain collaboration, timely delivery, continual process enhancement, and cost effectiveness, while maximizing plant capacity and customer satisfaction. The position also involves leading cross-functional teams, implementing Lean Manufacturing and operational excellence practices, developing workforce capabilities, and partnering closely with Sales, Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, and Leadership to bolster business growth and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and apply plant performance metrics to monitor and improve operational effectiveness.
- Optimize capacity and manpower utilization for better productivity.
- Identify and implement opportunities including automation for process improvements.
- Effectively manage improvement projects to meet cost and schedule goals.
- Establish and monitor smart metrics for employee performance management, fostering accountability and ownership.
- Clarify roles and responsibilities within plant operations and assess team efficiency and effectiveness.
- Implement quality control measures to attain required product and service standards.
- Ensure adherence to delivery protocols and continuous quality improvements.
- Manage and maximize utilization, uptime, and productivity of plant machinery and equipment, including preventive maintenance plans.
- Supervise production planning and scheduling to meet on-time delivery targets; identify and resolve delivery bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with sales teams to optimize capacity utilization and enhance customer satisfaction through management of audits and visits.
- Oversee vendor relationships, assess supplier performance, negotiate contracts, and onboard new vendors to support growth.
- Coordinate with supply chain teams for timely availability of materials, align production with inventory and procurement, and mitigate supply-related challenges.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the operations team through appraisals, feedback, and training initiatives to foster engagement and a positive workplace culture.
- Monitor operational costs and implement cost-saving measures to enhance profitability, focusing on waste reduction and resource optimization.
- Evaluate and upgrade production processes and technologies, ensuring smooth transitions to new systems and best practices.
Required Skills and Expertise
- Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing operations and plant processes.
- Expertise in Lean Manufacturing, TPM, OEE, Kaizen, 5S, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Proficiency in Production Planning and Control (PPC) and equipment maintenance strategies.
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience in project management and effective cross-functional collaboration.
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP and monitoring key plant performance indicators (OEE, PPM, Productivity, Downtime, OTIF/OTD).
- Capability to lead teams, handle escalations, and maintain strong stakeholder relations.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills.
- High levels of ownership, accountability, and execution focus.

Eligibility
