Job description

Role Overview

As a Dishwasher with Compass Group Canada based in North York, Ontario, you will play a crucial role in maintaining hygiene and order within the kitchen by cleaning dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, and pans. Your duties also include upholding sanitation standards in the kitchen and related work areas to ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and interact with customers and colleagues politely and efficiently, representing the company positively.
  • Apply sanitary and safety procedures rigorously when handling food service equipment.
  • Properly remove garbage, compost, and recycling from kitchen and customer areas, disposing of waste appropriately.
  • Clean, sanitize, and dry all dishware used in service, adhering to HSQA protocols.
  • Soak, wash, sanitize, and dry pots, pans, and kitchen utensils used in food preparation.
  • Store clean dishware and cookware in designated areas for easy service access.
  • Comply with mandated annual training modules on company platforms such as 24/7 and MyLMS.
  • Follow the master cleaning schedule for consistent sanitation of dishwashing and kitchen areas.
  • Engage with customers to ensure their satisfaction with services.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet company service standards and safeguard company inventory and property.
  • Maintain physical mobility to complete all assigned tasks within designated service times.
  • Keep dishwashing and waste collection areas clean in line with company QA cleaning standards and master schedule.
  • Perform deep cleaning of the main dishwasher machine twice weekly, specifically on Wednesdays and Fridays.
  • Confirm that all dishes are properly cleaned and sanitized before storage or use.
  • Maintain an orderly dishwasher station ensuring the wash cycle consistently operates at peak sanitary performance.
  • Occasionally assume Porter/Receiver duties on Tuesdays if that position is vacant, ensuring kitchen organization before shift end.
  • Daily removal of Organic Green Bins post-service.
  • Participate in weekly safety meetings and complete associated checklists and training.

Candidate Profile

  • Must possess a valid Food Handler Certificate or equivalent provincial certification.
  • Ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Previous dishwashing experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Experience operating industrial dishwashing equipment is preferred.
  • Strong capacity to perform well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Physical capability to perform job duties as required.
