General Accountant

About the Role

Faster Rent a Car, based in Dubai, is seeking a knowledgeable General Accountant to oversee daily accounting tasks, ensure precise financial reporting, and facilitate timely month-end closings in alignment with UAE regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will independently analyze financial data, utilize ERP systems effectively, and incorporate modern tools, including AI, while ensuring all financial figures are thoroughly verified.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage general accounting duties and maintain the General Ledger.
• Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, provisions, and necessary adjustments.
• Conduct month-end and year-end closing processes efficiently.
• Perform reconciliations of bank accounts and balance sheets.
• Reconcile revenues from rental contracts with operations via the ERP system.
• Oversee accounts receivable, monitor aging reports, manage collections, and track customer balances.
• Supervise credit card deposits and maintain security holds.
• Calculate fleet depreciation and analyze cost and profitability at the vehicle level.
• Compile financial reports and conduct variance analyses.
• Support compliance and reporting for UAE VAT (5%) and Corporate Tax (9%).
• Collaborate with auditors and supply necessary documentation.
• Ensure accounting records are accurate, complete, and well-maintained.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum 3 to 5 years of accounting experience within the UAE.
• In-depth knowledge of general accounting principles, General Ledger management, reconciliations, and month-end closures.
• Proficiency in advanced Microsoft Excel features such as Power Query, PivotTables, and XLOOKUP.
• Strong familiarity with ERP systems; expertise in Odoo is preferred.
• Basic proficiency in SQL for independent query writing and execution.
• Experience using AI tools like ChatGPT or Claude for reconciliation, analysis, and productivity improvement, with a critical approach to verifying AI outputs.
• Experience in car rental, leasing, automotive, limousine, equipment rental, or related asset-heavy industries is highly advantageous.
• CMA or ACCA certification is a plus.
• Robust analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Fluency in both Arabic and English languages.

Salary & Assessment

The position offers a salary range between AED 6,000 and AED 8,000. Candidates shortlisted for this role will be required to complete a 90-minute practical assessment involving financial data handling, accounting, reconciliation, Excel/data analysis, and problem-solving tasks.
