Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking a meticulous Game QA Tester dedicated to enhancing player experiences by ensuring the highest quality in game releases. Beyond just defect detection, you will collaborate with design, engineering, and production teams to assess new features, identify quality risks early on, and help maintain high standards before launch.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage in reviews of game features and requirements, providing insights on design quality, feasibility, and risks.
- Interpret game design documents to create test plans, cases, and strategic testing approaches.
- Conduct comprehensive functional, regression, compatibility, and performance testing of game features.
- Find, replicate, document, classify, and prioritize bugs while coordinating remediation efforts with developers.
- Perform regression testing to validate bug fixes and ensure feature quality.
- Use QA tools including packet capture software, version control, log analyzers, and debugging utilities during testing.
- Continuously assess product quality during development to spot quality, procedural, and scheduling risks.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to refine workflows and improve overall product quality.
- Offer player-centric feedback on gameplay, experience, balance, and monetization aspects.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years experience in Game QA with the capability to independently manage end-to-end feature testing.
- Strong passion for gaming, with profound understanding of gameplay systems, player engagement, progression mechanics, and monetization strategies.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
- Adept at judging whether features meet quality benchmarks prior to release.
- Effective communication skills and experience collaborating with designers and engineers within iterative development frameworks.
- Knowledge of QA best practices, bug tracking tools, and game development processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in performance, compatibility, API testing, or QA automation techniques.
- Background working on Strategy (SLG) games or thorough familiarity with this genre.
- Comfort with packet capture tools, version control systems, debugging aids, or scripting relevant to QA.
- Exposure to live game operations, ongoing feature enhancements, and content rollouts.
