About the Role

We are inviting applications for a full-time position as a Game Developer | Game Systems Designer based in Abu Dhabi Emirate, UAE. This role suits mid-level to senior professionals who blend creativity with strong technical game development expertise. The position focuses on designing, building, and refining gameplay systems and engaging interactive experiences, merging programming skills with in-depth systems design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, implement, and sustain gameplay systems and interactive game features from design to deployment.
  • Convert game concepts, mechanics, and design documents into working gameplay experiences.
  • Develop core systems including player movement, combat mechanics, leveling, inventories, abilities, questing, and reward management.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams consisting of designers, artists, animators, producers, writers, and quality assurance experts.
  • Design balanced and immersive game systems to enrich player experience and engagement.
  • Build and test gameplay prototypes to validate new mechanics and features.
  • Develop reusable and scalable frameworks and game components.
  • Implement logical gameplay elements, including state management, event handling, and system rules.
  • Design systems supporting player progression, in-game economies, reward structures, and leveling mechanisms.
  • Maintain gameplay systems related to character attributes, skill sets, equipment, and ability progression.
  • Analyze gameplay loops for player engagement and retention improvement opportunities.
  • Balance game difficulty, rewards, resources, and progression curves effectively.
  • Define clear system specifications, dependencies, and user interactions in cooperation with designers.
  • Integrate gameplay with user interfaces, animations, audio, physics, networking, and other engine components.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues relating to gameplay, performance, logic, and system integration.
  • Facilitate playtesting and utilize player feedback to fine-tune gameplay mechanics.
  • Monitor gameplay analytics and apply data-driven approaches to enhance systems and player experience.
  • Optimize performance, scalability, memory use, and responsiveness of gameplay systems.
  • Support multiplayer and online gameplay aspects, including networking synchronization when necessary.
  • Create tools and workflows that advance the productivity of designers and the development crew.
  • Write clear, modular, well-documented, and maintainable code.
  • Participate in code reviews and uphold technical and design standards.
  • Work with QA teams to identify, reproduce, prioritize, and fix gameplay issues.
  • Contribute to live updates, patch releases, balancing, and post-launch game enhancements.
  • Research new game development trends, tools, techniques, and technologies.
  • Evaluate existing gameplay systems and propose improvements.
  • Participate actively in sprint planning, feature estimation, and milestone assessments.
  • Maintain up-to-date technical and design documentation.
  • Promote best practices across gameplay programming and system design disciplines.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Game Development, Software Engineering, Interactive Media, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience in game development, gameplay programming, or system design.
  • In-depth knowledge of gameplay mechanics, loops, player progression, and systems design principles.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, C#, or similar languages used in game development.
  • Experience working with popular game engines like Unity, Unreal Engine, Godot, or equivalents.
  • Strong grasp of object-oriented programming, software architecture, and design patterns.
  • Hands-on experience designing gameplay systems from conception through to testing.
  • Familiarity with player progression, game economies, balancing, and resource management systems.
  • Understanding of game physics, input handling, animation integration, UI, and gameplay logic structure.
  • Skilled in debugging, profiling, optimization, and examining performance metrics.
  • Knowledge of version control systems such as Git or Perforce.
  • Understanding multiplayer architectures and networking principles is a plus.
  • Experience in live-service games, online features, and post-launch development is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to critically assess game mechanics from technical and user experience viewpoints.
  • Excellent communication and cooperative skills tailored to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Keen attention to detail with a strong dedication to gameplay quality.
  • Capacity to juggle multiple development priorities with efficient time management.
  • Creative mindset deeply interested in interactive entertainment and game technologies.
  • Capability to work autonomously and contribute effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience with scripting, prototyping, or tool development is a plus.
  • Familiarity with player analytics platforms and behavioral data beneficial.
  • A portfolio showcasing gameplay projects, prototypes, or technical contributions is preferred.
