About the Role

We are looking for a visionary and analytically minded Futurist who can identify emerging trends, new technologies, societal changes, and shifts in the market that could influence our organization's future. This strategic position requires conducting forward-looking research, developing scenarios, evaluating opportunities and risks, and delivering actionable insights to guide long-term strategies, innovation efforts, investments, and business planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Scan and analyze emerging trends in technology, business, economics, society, consumer behavior, geopolitics, and key industries.
• Detect subtle early signals, disruptive innovations, emergent technologies, and fundamental changes that might impact the organization.
• Perform strategic foresight activities including horizon scanning, trend analysis, and future-focused research.
• Create outlooks spanning short, medium, and long terms to assist in strategic decision-making.
• Construct alternative future scenarios and evaluate their possible effects on the company, its market, customers, and industry.
• Pinpoint new chances, challenges, threats, and potential sources of competitive advantage.
• Assess technologies such as AI, automation, robotics, biotech, advanced computing, renewable energy, and other emerging fields wherever relevant.
• Analyze how technological, economic, environmental, regulatory, demographic, and social factors could reshape future business models.
• Convert complex future trends and research outcomes into clear and actionable strategic recommendations.
• Prepare executive briefings, foresight and trend reports, presentations, strategic outlook documents, and scenario-planning materials.
• Deliver future-oriented insights to senior leaders, executives, strategic planners, and important stakeholders.
• Support corporate strategy formulation, innovation projects, investments, product development, business transformation, and long-term planning.
• Lead workshops, scenario planning sessions, innovation forums, and strategic foresight exercises.
• Develop frameworks and methods to evaluate uncertainty, disruption, resilience, and future opportunities.
• Collaborate with departments such as Strategy, Innovation, R&D, Marketing, Technology, and Finance to integrate future insights in business activities.
• Establish connections with academics, researchers, technology firms, entrepreneurs, think tanks, industry experts, and other external knowledge sources.
• Monitor competitors' innovations, disruptive business models, emerging markets, and industry transformations.
• Research changing customer demands, behaviors, expectations, and consumption trends.
• Challenge existing assumptions and promote long-term, evidence-based thinking throughout the organization.
• Identify future-required capabilities, skills, technologies, partnerships, and investments for sustainable competitiveness.
• Create early-warning systems and monitoring frameworks for significant external shifts and emerging risks.
• Contribute to innovation pipelines and help prioritize strategic future opportunities based on their relevance and impact.
• Continuously improve forecasting, scenario-planning, and foresight methodologies.

Candidate Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in Futurism, Strategic Foresight, Futures Studies, Innovation Strategy, Strategic Planning, Research, Consulting, or related areas.
• Strong knowledge of emerging technologies, global trends, market forces, and societal transformations.
• Outstanding research capabilities coupled with analytical reasoning, critical thinking, and pattern recognition skills.
• Proven ability to detect emerging trends and evaluate their potential business consequences.
• Significant experience in scenario planning, horizon scanning, trend assessment, forecasting, or analogous foresight methods.
• Skill in connecting developments across multiple sectors, disciplines, technologies, and social environments.
• Excellent strategic thinking and adeptness at navigating uncertainty and ambiguity.
• Strong communication skills both written and spoken, capable of conveying complex concepts clearly and persuasively.
• Proficient in presentations and storytelling, especially when outlining future scenarios to senior audiences.
• Capacity to distinguish substantial structural trends from ephemeral hype or noise.
• Experience conducting primary and secondary research using reliable data, expert consultations, industry studies, academic analyses, and other credible resources.
• High proficiency with research, data analysis, visualization, presentation, and strategic planning software and tools.
• Familiarity with AI, data analytics, technology strategy, innovation management, or digital transformation is advantageous.
• Intellectual curiosity, creativity, independence, and readiness to question established norms.
• Ability to work collaboratively with executives, researchers, technologists, strategists, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Bachelor’s degree ideally in Futures Studies, Business, Economics, Technology, Sociology, Political Science, Innovation, Science, or related disciplines.
• Advanced qualifications such as a Master’s degree in Strategic Foresight, Futures Studies, Innovation, Strategy, or similar fields provide a competitive edge.
• Valuable experience includes working with global companies, innovation labs, corporate strategy groups, think tanks, research institutions, or consulting firms.
