Job description

About Alan

Alan is on a mission to transform healthcare by eliminating waiting times and promoting prevention as a core principle. We believe health is a fundamental right that should focus on daily prevention rather than just treatment. Alan creates an integrated experience combining insurance, prevention, and care in a unique and accessible platform.

Currently serving over one million members across 40,000+ companies and achieving over €800M in annual recurring revenue, Alan is expanding globally and establishing its presence in Saudi Arabia.

Role Overview

As part of the Saudi Arabia team based in Riyadh, you'll help adapt and localize Alan's existing platforms and products for the Saudi healthcare environment, tailoring solutions to local healthcare systems, regulations, and user expectations. This includes building both web and mobile experiences alongside backend systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain products used by members and clients in Saudi Arabia including mobile and web applications and backend systems.
  • Customize Alan's platform to fit the Saudi healthcare landscape, including right-to-left support and Arabic language experiences.
  • Integrate with local healthcare providers, national systems, and partners ensuring compliance with local regulations.
  • Establish dependable systems aligned with local data privacy and compliance requirements.
  • Lead local security efforts in coordination with the Chief Information Security Officer and compliance teams to implement cybersecurity frameworks such as Saudi Central Bank Cyber Security Framework, National Cybersecurity Authority controls, and Personal Data Protection Law.
  • Contribute reusable technical components to the global Alan platform, sharing learnings across international teams.
  • Make crucial technical decisions as a domain expert and collaborate closely with product, operations, and leadership teams.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in software engineering, capable of managing complex projects with many engineers.
  • Expertise in designing efficient systems and engineering workflows to support collaboration across multiple teams and products.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and leading development teams or crews.
  • Active involvement in the hiring process, including improving technical assessment procedures.
  • Strong object-oriented programming background in languages such as Python, Java, or C# and a good understanding of modern JavaScript for web technologies. Direct experience with Python or JavaScript is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Entrepreneurial, self-driven, collaborative, and eager to both learn and teach.
  • Fluent in English; Arabic language proficiency is advantageous.
  • Interest or expertise in cybersecurity, with familiarity or certification in Saudi cybersecurity frameworks preferred.
  • Based in Riyadh or willing to relocate there.
  • We particularly encourage Saudi nationals to apply, although all high-potential candidates with curiosity and enthusiasm are welcome.

Benefits and Perks

  • Competitive salary combined with generous equity packages.
  • State-of-the-art equipment including MacBook Pro, monitor, keyboard, stand, and noise-cancelling headphones.
  • Flexible schedule allowing autonomous time management.
  • Between 25 and 40 paid leave days annually, plus sick leave aligned with Saudi labor laws.
  • Comprehensive health insurance coverage via Alan.
  • Support for learning including budgets for books, conferences, and training opportunities.
  • Dedicated coaching from day one to foster personal growth and maximize impact within the company.
  • Generous parental leave: 14 weeks maternity, 2 weeks and 3 days paternity.
  • Salary includes transportation allowance; relocation assistance available depending on case.

Additional Information

Alan prioritizes hiring people for their potential rather than fitting a rigid checklist. We encourage all candidates including underrepresented groups and women to apply, regardless of whether they meet every single requirement.

We value openness, learning, and a growth mindset at every seniority level.
