Job description
About Xe
Xe operates a cross-border payments platform that enables SMEs and consumers in countries including the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand to collect, convert, hold, and send money internationally. Serving over 300 million users annually for currency information and more than 350,000 customers for overseas money transfers, Xe is backed by Euronet Worldwide (Nasdaq: EEFT), allowing it to operate at scale despite its relatively small engineering teams.
Role Overview
We are seeking a mid-level Full Stack Software Engineer who enjoys owning end-to-end solutions involving API design, frontend and backend development, production reliability, and feature launches. You will contribute to rebuilding the platform layer behind cross-border payments, delivering features that directly impact how money moves in production environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver features that manage multi-currency balances and payment processes, including onboarding, KYC/KYB, payment initiation, foreign exchange, settlement, and other functionalities.
- Create and maintain customer-facing features spanning the frontend interface and the underlying backend services.
- Take ownership of your production services, ensuring reliability, observability, incident response, and on-call support.
- Collaborate closely with product, design, and compliance teams from problem definition through to launch.
- Leverage agentic coding tools such as Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code daily to assist with prototyping, refactoring, testing, and documenting code.
- Assist in modernizing legacy systems by migrating components to a modern technology stack in cooperation with architects and team leads.
Required Qualifications
- Between 3 and 6 years of experience in building production web applications with end-to-end involvement.
- Strong frontend development skills using Vue.js, React, or comparable frameworks.
- Robust backend programming expertise in C#/.NET preferred; Java, Kotlin, Go, or similar object-oriented languages are also acceptable.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and relational database principles.
- Experience writing and maintaining tests as part of the standard development workflow.
- Regular usage of agentic coding assistants across the software development lifecycle.
- Hands-on production experience with AWS services, including deployment and usage of resources such as SQS, DynamoDB, S3, ECS, and Lambda.
- Foundational computer science knowledge and practical skills in system design.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, product, and design teams.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in payments, foreign exchange, or regulated industries.
- Familiarity with service-oriented or microservices architectures.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and modern deployment methodologies.
- Frontend best practices including responsive design, accessibility, performance optimization, and internationalization.
- Experience with caching technologies like Memcached or Redis.
- Proficiency with project management and documentation tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- Knowledge of API testing tools like Postman or Bruno.
- Skill in writing automated tests integrated with AI coding tools.
