Core Responsibilities

As a Product Engineer focused on Matomo Core — the backbone of the product and its ecosystem — you will take ownership beyond coding. You will engage deeply with customer challenges, shaping solutions end-to-end across the full stack. Your work will range from fixing intricate issues in a mature codebase to enhancing platform capabilities and ensuring data accuracy and privacy compliance. Incremental, iterative improvements with measurable impact are key, and AI will be integral to your workflow.

Key Tasks

• Diagnose and resolve complex problems within a mature analytics platform.
• Advance security, scalability, performance, and reliability aspects of Matomo.
• Uphold data integrity, precision, and trustworthiness for customers.
• Enhance APIs, platform features, and plugin integration capabilities.
• Develop and improve handling of consent, privacy, and responsible data collection.
• Drive server-side tracking, data anonymization, and monitoring initiatives.
• Refine analytics features such as goals, ecommerce reporting, and dashboards.
• Simplify complex analytics workflows to enable powerful, accessible functionality.
• Contribute to product experience by evolving the design system for consistency and usability.

Technical Environment

The stack includes PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, Vue.js, and TypeScript. Prior experience in these technologies is beneficial but not required; more important is the ability to learn rapidly, reason about codebases, and ship meaningful improvements.
