Role Overview

The Gist app, built by AppLovin, is a fresh consumer social platform acting as a handbook for the curious. We seek a Full Stack Engineer responsible for crafting web applications, embedded web experiences, and interactive mini games that give life to our product.

This role involves working on both front-end and back-end development, transforming product concepts into fast, reliable, and user-friendly experiences. Your responsibilities include building responsive web pages, embedded content via mobile WebViews, and lightweight interactive games.

Daily Responsibilities

• Create and maintain responsive web applications employing HTML, CSS, JavaScript or TypeScript alongside modern frontend frameworks.
• Develop web content optimized for various mobile WebViews, considering multiple screen sizes, devices, and platform specifics.
• Design and integrate lightweight mini games and interactive elements, including both the front-end interfaces and supporting backend services.
• Construct and manage backend APIs and database connections that uphold product features.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and mobile developers to convert requirements into released features.
• Enhance product performance, stability, and user experience across different platforms.
• Produce well-structured, testable code, engage in code reviews, and troubleshoot issues on both frontend and backend layers.

• Influence how users discover and engage with Gist on web and mobile platforms.
• Translate new product ideas into functional features and iteratively improve them through feedback and analytics.
• Create reusable components and integrations to accelerate future development efficiencies.
• Assist in establishing a dependable technical base as the product evolves.

Required Qualifications

• At least two years of professional experience in software engineering with contributions to both frontend and backend development.
• Solid expertise in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript or TypeScript, including responsive design and browser behavior nuances.
• Experience working with modern frontend frameworks such as React or Vue.
• Competency in backend development with at least one programming language, API construction, and use of relational or non-relational databases.
• Proven ability to independently deliver small features and participate in larger projects under guidance.
• A methodical approach to debugging, testing, and writing maintainable code.
• Comfortable engaging across product, design, and engineering teams, proactive in communication, and committed to follow-through.
• Meticulous attention to detail ensuring consumer products feel intuitive and responsive.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience creating cross-platform web applications, mini applets, or embedded web UI components.
• Knowledge of mobile WebViews, integration of web content with native app layers, or platform SDK usage.
• Background in developing HTML5 games or interactive experiences utilizing Canvas, WebGL, or related game frameworks.
• Familiarity with product analytics, feature experimentation, and consumer application metrics.
• Experience using AI-driven coding assistants such as Claude Code or Cursor, coupled with diligent code review practices.
