Role Overview
As the Forward-Deployed Engineering Manager, you will oversee pod teams responsible for executing multiple AI deployments across top Indian enterprises. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring you to split your time between active technical participation—coding, systems integration, and stakeholder discussions—and building a robust engineering organization through recruitment, coaching, and setting high delivery standards. This position is ideal for those looking to maintain strong technical involvement while leading others.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage two to three engineering pods handling concurrent enterprise deployments, ensuring quality, speed, and achieving promised customer outcomes.
- Maintain hands-on involvement by reviewing designs, resolving complex integration issues, and consistently contributing code.
- Define and uphold delivery standards including evaluation criteria, regression controls, and production readiness to safeguard system reliability under live financial operation.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop engineers skilled in both technical execution and client engagement.
- Serve as the senior technical liaison to customer executives when required by deployment circumstances.
- Determine insights from each deployment to enhance platform capabilities for subsequent pods.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum eight years of experience developing production-grade software with at least three years leading teams that deliver tangible results.
- Active coding ability demonstrated regularly; this role demands continued technical proficiency.
- Experience working within client environments or critical production contexts with strict constraints and impactful deadlines.
- Hands-on experience with Large Language Model (LLM) backed systems in production, capable of setting standards for team members.
- Exceptional communication skills for engaging C-level executives and excellent judgment to balance team protection and pushing boundaries.
- Proven track record of building and scaling high-performing engineering teams without compromising quality or speed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in forward-deployed roles, consultancy, or solution engineering involving on-site client delivery.
- Experience in financial services or regulated industries.
- Demonstrated ability to recruit rapidly while maintaining high hiring standards.
