About Notion
Notion is a collaborative AI workspace designed to bring teams and AI agents together seamlessly. It offers a unified platform where knowledge, projects, meetings, and AI tools coexist to enhance productivity by reducing fragmentation. Millions of users, from individuals to large enterprises, leverage Notion to manage their work effectively. As employees, known as Notinos, we strive to craft enduring solutions that redefine collaboration in the AI era, placing human-centric workflows at the core.
Role Overview
As a Forward Deployed Architect within Notion’s Services team, you will play a critical role in transforming AI ambitions into practical, operational solutions. You will collaborate directly with customers to architect, build, and launch AI-integrated workflows that drive user adoption, engagement, and tangible business results. This role is pivotal in Notion’s workflow-focused go-to-market strategy and involves close partnership with customers to comprehend their objectives, operational practices, technical environments, governance requirements, and barriers to adoption, translating them into scalable Notion architecture designs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead forward deployed projects from initial discovery through launch, converting business and workflow needs into clear solution designs and Notion implementations that achieve sustained adoption.
- Engineer scalable Notion workspace architectures that accommodate customer workflows, permissions, governance, integrations, and AI applications for easy adoption and management.
- Create and implement AI-centric workflows leveraging Notion AI, custom agents, automations, Workers, Developer Platform features, and related AI technologies; collaborate with Forward Deployed Engineering for advanced technical challenges including migrations, APIs, security, and cutting-edge implementations.
- Guide customers through change management by developing adoption strategies, training materials, and launch plans to ensure ongoing utilization and business value realization.
- Identify recurring patterns from customer projects to create packaged solutions, templates, reference architectures, runbooks, enablement content, and contribute product feedback.
- Act as a trusted advisor by simplifying complex technical requirements, providing practical recommendations, and aligning stakeholders on clear implementation pathways.
- Collaborate across teams including GTM, Product, Engineering, PMM, Services leadership, and partners to amplify successful practices beyond single engagements.
- Develop detailed implementation plans, transition documents, and success metrics to align customers and internal teams for smooth value delivery.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years experience in technology consulting, solutions architecture, implementation, customer engineering, or related client-facing roles.
- Demonstrated ability to clarify ambiguous customer objectives into structured workflows, solution plans, architectural designs, and measurable success benchmarks.
- Strong discovery and consultative skills including mapping existing workflows, identifying pain points, understanding operational models, uncovering technical limitations, and designing practical future-state solutions.
- Hands-on experience building AI-powered workflows to prototype, automate, or enhance real-world business processes.
- Technical fluency with APIs, system integrations, data modeling, automation, enterprise software, developer workflows, and ability to assess technical tradeoffs; coding is not mandatory but problem-solving skills are essential.
- Proven track record of delivering implementations that foster adoption, manage organizational change, and generate long-term customer value.
- Excellent project and engagement management capabilities, overseeing scope, schedules, deliverables, stakeholder coordination, risks, decisions, dependencies, and readiness for launch.
- Exceptional communication skills, with aptitude for distilling complex technical ideas for business, technical, and executive audiences.
- Strong executive presence and sound customer judgement; skilled at establishing trust, framing tradeoffs clearly, and advancing uncertain decisions.
- Proactive attitude, fast learner, and comfortable working in rapidly evolving AI-driven product environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing or deploying AI-powered agents, automations, or workflows directly with customers.
- Familiarity with Notion platform technologies including APIs, MCPs, Workers, coding agents, or developer tools.
- Experience creating discovery frameworks, reusable delivery assets, internal tools, packaged services, or reference architectures from inception.
- History of collaborating with Product and Engineering teams to translate customer insights into roadmap inputs, reusable patterns, or scalable improvements.
- Prior experience in high-velocity, growth-oriented technology companies.
