Role Overview
We are looking for a dedicated Cook to join our hospitality team at Mareeba Gardens, Queensland. This full-time position involves preparing nutritious, high-quality meals tailored to the dietary needs of our residents, ensuring their health and well-being. You will collaborate closely with the care team to maintain timely and safe meal service in accordance with food safety protocols.
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals following established menus and residents’ dietary specifications.
- Ensure meals are attractively presented and served punctually.
- Adhere strictly to food safety and infection control procedures.
- Assist with preparing special diets and texture-modified foods as needed.
- Manage stock levels and work to reduce food waste.
- Keep kitchen environment clean, safe, and well-organized.
- Work collaboratively with care staff to support residents’ overall wellbeing.
- Provide flexible coverage including weekend shifts and leave relief on a casual roster.
Candidate Requirements
- Previous cooking experience, ideally in aged care, healthcare, or hospitality settings.
- Understanding of food safety standards and safe handling procedures.
- Possession of a Food Safety Certificate or willingness to obtain one.
- Strong skills in time management and organisation.
- Positive team-oriented attitude with passion for assisting older Australians.
- Availability to work diverse shifts including weekends.
- Valid NDIS worker screening check or readiness to acquire it.
