Role Overview

We are looking for a dedicated Cook to join our hospitality team at Mareeba Gardens, Queensland. This full-time position involves preparing nutritious, high-quality meals tailored to the dietary needs of our residents, ensuring their health and well-being. You will collaborate closely with the care team to maintain timely and safe meal service in accordance with food safety protocols.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals following established menus and residents’ dietary specifications.
  • Ensure meals are attractively presented and served punctually.
  • Adhere strictly to food safety and infection control procedures.
  • Assist with preparing special diets and texture-modified foods as needed.
  • Manage stock levels and work to reduce food waste.
  • Keep kitchen environment clean, safe, and well-organized.
  • Work collaboratively with care staff to support residents’ overall wellbeing.
  • Provide flexible coverage including weekend shifts and leave relief on a casual roster.

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous cooking experience, ideally in aged care, healthcare, or hospitality settings.
  • Understanding of food safety standards and safe handling procedures.
  • Possession of a Food Safety Certificate or willingness to obtain one.
  • Strong skills in time management and organisation.
  • Positive team-oriented attitude with passion for assisting older Australians.
  • Availability to work diverse shifts including weekends.
  • Valid NDIS worker screening check or readiness to acquire it.
