Job description
Position Overview
The Food Runner role at Mondrian South Beach involves efficiently delivering food and beverage items to guests in a courteous, energetic, and professional manner.
Key Responsibilities
- Transport food and beverage orders from kitchen to guests, assist servers by clearing tables, and employ suggestive selling techniques.
- Prepare stations and tables thoroughly; assist with various side tasks assigned by servers.
- Ensure cleanliness and proper upkeep of dining and service areas.
- Act as a liaison between front-of-house and back-of-house teams, communicating orders clearly and noting dietary restrictions.
- Provide rapid and accurate delivery of food orders to customer tables.
Additional Duties
- Maintain consistent attendance adhering to company standards.
- Adapt to variable work schedules reflecting hospitality industry demands.
- Participate in scheduled training sessions and team meetings as required.
Qualifications and Skills
- Fluent in the primary workplace language with strong verbal and written communication capabilities.
- Basic arithmetic and computer proficiency.
- Knowledge of place settings and serving ware.
- Ability to describe menu items and use suggestive selling to promote specialty dishes.
Physical Requirements
- Work primarily indoors but able to endure extreme temperatures such as freezers (-10°F) and hot kitchens (+110°F) for extended periods.
- Capability to stand and move continuously for up to four hours.
- Able to lift trays up to 30 lbs regularly and push/pull carts weighing up to 250 lbs.
- Perform movements such as bending, stooping, squatting, stretching, and maintain manual dexterity to operate required equipment.
- Good vision, hearing, and speaking skills essential for guest and team communication.
Eligibility and Experience
- Minimum legal age to serve alcohol.
- 1-2 years experience as a Food Runner or similar role in a full-service restaurant environment.
- Familiarity with food safety and hygiene standards.
- Ability to multitask and stay calm in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to work varying shifts including weekends.
Education and Certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to obtain or maintain any mandatory government licenses or permits.
