Flooring and Decor Sales Associate

About the Role

We are seeking a Flooring and Decor Sales Associate who is passionate about helping customers find the perfect solutions for their home improvement projects. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy making a difference, are naturally curious, and committed to continuous learning.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional customer service by following a structured approach to greet, engage, and thank customers.
• Proactively approach customers throughout the store and guide them to appropriate merchandise, regardless of department.
• Utilize open-ended questions to understand customers’ project requirements and their experience level.
• Promote the range of services offered, including Special Services, Tool Rental, Pro Desk, and Pro Services.
• Advise customers on product options categorized into good, better, and best to suit their needs.
• Educate customers on the scope of their entire project and related needs beyond the immediate product.
• Use empowerment programs when required to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Maintain product displays, ensuring all merchandise is labeled, organized, and clean on a daily basis.

Skill and Knowledge Development

• Keep up-to-date with all products in the flooring and decor department as well as adjacent areas.
• Continuously seek to enhance product and service knowledge to better assist customers.

Safety and Security Requirements

• Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures.
• Follow loss prevention rules to protect store assets.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

• Flexible scheduling that may include evenings and weekends.
• Work in a warehouse setting that may be dusty and noisy, with frequent drafts due to open doors affecting indoor temperature.
• Physical activities include bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and moving items.

Additional Information

Reports directly to the Department Supervisor with no travel requirements for this role.

Compensation

The pay range offered for this position is between $18.75 and $19.75 per hour.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or an equivalent qualification.
• 1 to 2 years of experience in retail or trades is considered beneficial.
