Job description
Role Overview and Responsibilities
This role requires familiarity with fundamental Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards and awareness of risks associated with machine inspection and assembly tasks.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to determine fitting procedures.
- Assemble and align metal components through grinding and adjusting to ensure accurate fit.
- Accurately mark, measure, and cut materials prior to assembly.
- Operate hand and power tools, including grinders, drills, gas cutting equipment, and fitting machinery.
- Support welding preparation by correctly positioning parts before welding processes.
- Inspect assembled parts to identify defects or misalignments and perform necessary corrections.
- Work collaboratively with welding and fabrication teams to fulfill project timelines.
- Maintain tools and equipment in optimal condition for safety and efficiency.
- Use grinding machines to prepare parts through chamfering.
- Apply lean manufacturing principles such as 5S, TPM, and Kaizen to ensure workplace safety and cleanliness.
- Keep machinery in safe operating condition.
- Continuously strive for improvements in departmental workflows to reduce production cycle times, increase machine uptime, enhance efficiency, and reduce operational costs.
- Strictly adhere to safety protocols and maintain an organized work environment.
Candidate Qualifications and Profile
- Educational background: ITI certification as a fitter or Diploma in a related discipline, with technical training or apprenticeship experience preferred.
- Demonstrated experience as a Heavy Fabrication Fitter, particularly in heavy fabrication or pressure vessel fabrication.
- 5 to 8 years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of quality control procedures.
- Effective communication and the ability to work well in team environments.
