About the Role
Gulf View Installation and Repair of Safety Systems (GVICO), operating as a Sole Proprietorship LLC based in Abu Dhabi, UAE, invites applications for the position of Firestop Technician / Applicator. This full-time role involves the correct installation and application of passive fire protection measures across multiple project sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and apply firestop systems approved for MEP penetrations and building construction joints.
- Handle application of various fire protection materials, including firestop sealants, mortar, collars, wraps, putty, and mineral wool materials.
- Firestop penetrations comprising cables, cable trays, steel and PVC/CPVC pipes, ducts, busbars, and mixed penetrations.
- Install linear joint and head-of-wall firestop systems in compliance with project specifications.
- Cut, pack, compress, and install mineral wool precisely according to the approved firestop system requirements.
- Maintain required sealant depths, annular space, backing depth, and adhere to firestop installation configurations.
- Interpret and follow approved UL-listed firestop system details, method statements, drawings, and site instructions accurately.
- Prepare surfaces and openings properly before firestop application to ensure quality installation.
- Maintain professional and clean workmanship standards throughout the job.
- Apply identification labels or stickers where necessary.
- Report any site conditions that do not conform with approved firestop system requirements before installation.
- Adhere strictly to project Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) protocols and site safety guidelines.
- Collaborate with supervisors and engineers to facilitate inspections and complete work effectively.
Candidate Requirements
- Prior experience as a Firestop Technician or Firestop Applicator is preferred.
- Experience working in the UAE is not essential; international firestop experience is welcomed.
- Practical understanding of passive fire protection and firestopping techniques is advantageous.
- Familiarity with well-known firestop product brands such as Hilti, Fischer, 3M, STI, Sika, or equivalents is beneficial.
- Able to comprehend basic firestop details and installation procedures.
- Strong focus on workmanship quality and attention to detail.
- Capable of working on construction sites and cooperatively with a team.
- Compliance with safety regulations and supervisor directives is mandatory.
- Preference for candidates available to commence work immediately.
