Role Summary

The Financial Controller role leads the finance function by ensuring sound financial management, precise reporting, and strategic financial planning. This key position supports efficient operations and sustainable growth in a dynamic catering environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger oversight.
• Prepare financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
• Ensure Irish tax laws and financial regulations compliance.
• Handle reporting requirements for Bunzl plc, covering budgets, presentations, and timely HFM submissions.
• Lead annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting processes.
• Deliver financial analysis and insight to guide strategic decision-making.
• Monitor budget adherence and report discrepancies.
• Manage cash flow, working capital, and liaise with banking and financial institutions.
• Supervise treasury operations and investment planning.
• Develop, maintain, and enforce financial policies and internal controls to ensure audit readiness and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate activities with external auditors and regulatory agencies.
• Lead and mentor the finance team, promoting a culture of accountability and continuous development.
• Collaborate with catering operations to evaluate financial implications of business choices.
• Support pricing strategies, cost management initiatives, and margin enhancement efforts.
• Provide commercial and financial guidance to the OpCo Finance Director and Managing Director.

Qualifications & Experience

• Fully accredited accountant credentialed through ACA, ACCA, CPA, or CIMA.
• At least 5 years’ post-qualification experience, preferably in catering, hospitality, or fast-moving consumer goods sectors.
• Strong familiarity with Irish VAT and financial regulatory requirements.
• Experienced in financial software platforms such as Sage, SAP, and QuickBooks.
• Demonstrated leadership and management capabilities.
