Job description
About the Role
This is an outstanding opportunity to join a fast-growing retail business as the Financial Controller, serving as the deputy to an accomplished CFO. You will have extensive involvement across the entire business, underpinned by leadership from a respected executive leadership team and a Tier 1 private equity backer.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare timely and accurate monthly financial statements and management reports
- Implement and maintain robust internal financial controls and risk management procedures
- Handle statutory tax obligations including preparation of tax calculation documentation
- Monitor daily cash flow, treasury functions, and manage banking relationships
- Lead initiatives to streamline financial reporting processes
- Oversee external auditor relations and lead the annual audit planning and execution
- Manage and communicate capital requirements, coordinating closely with the CFO on fund movements
- Lead and develop a high-performing finance team to support business goals
Required Expertise
- Chartered Accountant qualification with experience ideally from Big 4 or mid-tier accounting firms, and subsequent industry experience
- Hands-on leadership with demonstrated success in driving financial performance within team environments
- Strong financial reporting and technical accounting capabilities
- Experience designing and implementing internal controls and financial policies
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders internally and externally
- Prior work experience in hospitality, food & beverage, or retail sectors is highly preferred
Additional Information
This position offers a base salary from $200,000 to $240,000 per year plus short-term incentives. It represents a pivotal leadership opportunity within a well-established Australian company with private equity backing.
