About the Role

AMFConsulting is collaborating with a well-established and expanding company to appoint a seasoned Financial Controller to lead their finance operations. This senior leadership role demands a finance expert who blends profound technical accounting knowledge with commercial savvy and a practical, hands-on approach.

Working closely alongside senior management, the controller will oversee financial reporting, planning, internal controls, cash flow, and compliance throughout the organization and its European subsidiaries. The role entails producing insightful financial analyses that strengthen profitability, operational effectiveness, investment decisions, and support sustained business growth.

The ideal candidate will be a confident leader and communicator capable of collaborating effectively with finance teams, operational functions, and senior executives within a fast-paced manufacturing or similarly complex environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting for the entire Group and its European branches.
• Produce precise and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts, financial reports, and performance evaluations.
• Deliver clear financial insights to the Board and senior management aiding strategic and commercial decisions.
• Track actual performance against budgets and forecasts to detect risks, trends, opportunities for expansion, and potential cost reductions.
• Championship improvements targeting cost management, margin enhancement, profitability, and operational efficiency.
• Provide financial analyses for capital expenditures, research and development projects, and possible acquisitions.
• Manage cash flow, working capital, banking relations, and treasury duties.
• Supervise fundamental finance operations, including accounts payable and receivable, credit control, payroll, and general accounting procedures.
• Ensure adherence to statutory, tax, and financial reporting regulations in Ireland, the UK, and Europe.
• Strengthen internal controls, financial governance, and business processes consistently.
• Lead the preparation of annual financial statements and audit processes in partnership with external auditors and tax consultants across various jurisdictions.
• Guide, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering high standards of accuracy, accountability, and business support.
• Drive finance-related process enhancements such as standardization, automation, and advanced management reporting.
• Assist in financial due diligence and analysis concerning potential acquisitions.
• Establish robust working relationships with operational, project, and senior leadership teams throughout the company.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• University degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a closely related field.
• Professional accounting accreditation such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent qualifications is preferred.
• At least a decade of finance leadership experience with responsibility for financial strategy, reporting, internal controls, and managing teams.
• Extensive expertise in budgeting, forecasting, financial planning & analysis, management reporting, operational finance, statutory reporting, auditing, and tax compliance.
• Strong familiarity with accounting principles and compliance requirements specific to Ireland, UK, and European regulations.
• Experience in manufacturing, industrial, engineering, infrastructure, or project-driven sectors is strongly advantageous.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and financial reporting tools, plus a proven record of executing finance process improvements.
• Demonstrated capability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing finance groups.
• Excellent commercial insight and ability to convert financial data into actionable, business-relevant information.
• Exceptional communication skills with proven stakeholder management and influence.
• Superior analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
