Job description

About the Role

Barden is recruiting a Financial Controller for a leading retail services company based in West Dublin. This critical position sits at the core of the Finance team, responsible for overseeing daily financial operations as the company expands. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, the role encompasses ownership of month-end closing, statutory reporting, tax compliance, and internal controls, while managing a small finance team during a phase of significant transformation.

  • Manage the full month-end close cycle, including preparation of management accounts, Balance Sheet reviews, and board reporting.
  • Lead the compilation of annual statutory financial statements compliant with Irish GAAP and oversee the relationship with external auditors.
  • Ensure compliance with Irish tax requirements such as VAT, Intrastat, VIES, Corporation Tax, and Deferred Tax.
  • Oversee accounts payable/receivable, cash forecasting, treasury operations, and foreign exchange management across the organisation.
  • Develop, document, and implement a strong internal controls framework, including a segregation-of-duties matrix.
  • Serve as the main finance liaison for an outsourced payroll provider, ensuring controls are properly documented and effective.
  • Supervise and directly manage a Financial Accountant, Accounts Assistant, and Credit Controller.
  • Collaborate closely with the Financial Planning & Analysis function and partner with operational, IT, and commercial teams as a trusted finance advisor.

Candidate Profile

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with a minimum of three years post-qualified experience.
  • Hands-on, up-to-date knowledge of Irish tax compliance responsibilities.
  • Experience in leading and nurturing a small finance team in either practice or industry settings.
  • Proficient with ERP systems, ideally SAP, advanced skills in Excel, and familiarity with Power BI.
  • Capable of operating independently within a dynamic, entrepreneurial context.
