Financial Accountant

About the Company and Role

We are a licensed online gambling and sports betting enterprise operating officially within the market. We are currently seeking a Financial Accountant to become part of our expanding international team based in Kampala, Uganda. Proficiency in English is essential due to the international nature of communication in this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle complete accounting cycles for Ugandan entities including bookkeeping, bank and payment reconciliation, payroll, and controlling expenses.
• Compile precise financial statements each month, quarter, and year conforming to IFRS standards.
• Oversee financial transactions involving banks, payment service providers, and local payment agents.
• Calculate and submit tax filings such as VAT, corporate income tax, and other jurisdictional obligations.
• Produce management and head office financial reports.
• Assist both internal and external auditors by providing timely and accurate data.
• Engage in improving workflows through optimization, implementing automation, and deploying financial tools.
• Maintain compliance with local regulations and collaborate with external consultants including tax advisors and lawyers.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
• Have a minimum of three years of experience in accounting; backgrounds in iGaming, fintech, telecommunications, or international companies are advantageous.
• Demonstrate thorough understanding of GAAP and IFRS accounting principles.
• Be proficient with accounting software such as 1C, Sage, QuickBooks, or other equivalents.
• Have excellent attention to detail, reliability, and strong time management capabilities.
• Exhibit solid communication skills to interact effectively with headquarters and local governmental agencies.
