Overview
An established and expanding organisation seeks a qualified Financial Accountant to join their group finance team. This role offers a comprehensive technical accounting position involving group reporting, consolidations, statutory accounts, audit, and tax. It is ideal for professionals passionate about technical finance and eager to gain greater responsibility while advancing within a group environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Compile group consolidated financial results and prepare detailed reporting packs.
- Create and review consolidation journals, manage intercompany eliminations and conduct reconciliations.
- Assist in preparing statutory financial statements and year-end accounts.
- Coordinate audit schedules and working papers, address queries from external auditors.
- Validate financial submissions from individual entities, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Support month-end and year-end processes such as journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Provide assistance on complex technical accounting issues as needed.
- Handle VAT, corporation tax, and other tax compliance duties.
- Contribute to year-end tax reporting and prepare associated schedules.
- Collaborate with auditors, tax advisers, and various internal and external partners.
- Drive improvements in financial controls, reporting, and finance procedures.
- Identify and implement automation, data, and technological solutions to enhance reporting and operational efficiency.
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualified accountant designation such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent.
- Proven expertise in financial reporting and statutory accounting.
- Hands-on experience with group consolidations, especially in multi-entity structures.
- Strong familiarity with accounting standards including FRS 102 and/or IFRS.
- Experience preparing audit documentation and direct engagement with external auditors.
- Knowledge of VAT and corporation tax compliance processes.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and other financial systems.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to meet tight reporting deadlines.
- Proactive mindset with enthusiasm for process enhancements and adoption of new technologies.
