About the Role
KuwaPay is seeking a meticulous and accountable Finance Officer to strengthen its expanding fintech team based in Nairobi, Kenya. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience within financial services sectors such as mobile money, telecommunications, Payment Service Providers (PSP), or payment-focused businesses. Experience handling cross-border payments is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate reconciliation of the company’s financial records, including bank statements, internal systems, and channel/operator reports.
- Maintain effective liaison with banks, mobile money platforms, payment partners, and the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) as needed.
- Manage the follow-up on monthly payment collections, settlement documentation, VAT invoices, and necessary supporting paperwork.
- Compute employee payroll and administer statutory deductions such as social security, health insurance contributions, payroll taxes, VAT, and other statutory government fees.
- Assist in maintaining tax compliance by guaranteeing timely submissions and payments of statutory filings.
- Perform any other finance-related tasks assigned by the company to support its operations.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in finance.
- Previous work in financial institutions, mobile money operators, telecom companies, PSPs, or payment-related organizations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of mobile payment tax frameworks and general company tax responsibilities.
- Familiarity with government communication protocols including KRA notice processes, regulatory deadlines, statutory filing dates, and other compliance necessities.
- Excellent communication abilities for interactions with banks, mobile money operators, KRA, and external stakeholders.
- High level of personal accountability, keen attention to detail, and excellent time management skills.
Additional Information
This position demands an individual who can operate autonomously and adhere strictly to deadlines. Timeliness in government filings and payments is crucial to avoid penalties.
