Job description
Overview
We seek a proactive Finance Officer to manage daily financial operations for our Kenya branch. This role involves overseeing accounting activities, month-end closures, payments, bank reconciliations, tax compliance, and regulatory financial reporting. The candidate will independently manage local finance tasks while collaborating closely with our Headquarters Finance Team.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute daily accounting transactions, reconcile accounts, and perform month-end closing procedures.
- Maintain precise general ledger entries, and manage bank, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and expense records.
- Assess employee reimbursement claims, supplier payments, and verify related documentation.
- Generate payment instructions and facilitate payments via online banking as the authorized Maker.
- Prepare bank reconciliation statements and monitor cash and bank balances consistently.
- Assist with preparing and submitting tax filings and payments, including Corporate Income Tax, VAT, Withholding Tax, and PAYE, in compliance with local regulations.
- Facilitate the preparation of financial and regulatory reports mandated by the DCP license and the Central Bank of Kenya.
- Support external audits, tax inspections, regulatory reviews, and internal financial assessments.
- Ensure thorough and well-organized record keeping for accounting, tax, and regulatory documentation.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related discipline.
- Minimum of three years of relevant experience in finance, accounting, or audit functions.
- Strong knowledge of Kenyan accounting standards, tax regulations, and finance practices.
- Professional qualifications such as CPA(K), ACCA, or active progress toward a recognized accounting certification are highly preferred.
- Prior experience in Digital Lending, Digital Credit provision, Microfinance, Consumer Lending, Banking, or financial institutions is a significant advantage.
- Exceptional attention to detail, a strong sense of responsibility, and the capability to work autonomously.
- Effective communication and coordination skills to engage with various stakeholders.
