Finance Manager

About the Role

A Japanese financial and leasing company seeks a Finance Manager to lead key finance and accounting functions at their Orchard location. This permanent full-time position (9am to 5:45pm) offers a variable bonus as part of the compensation package.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all finance, accounting, and financial control activities within the company.
• Ensure precise and timely month-end and year-end closures, and deliver accurate financial and statutory reports.
• Manage corporate tax, GST obligations, compliance matters, and coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors.
• Enhance internal controls ensuring adherence to accounting standards and local regulations.
• Act as a dependable backup to the Senior Manager when required.
• Lead, mentor, and direct the finance team while promoting continual process enhancement.
• Collaborate with internal business stakeholders to facilitate informed financial decision-making.
• Participate in finance transformation projects, including new core system implementations.
• Coordinate interactions with external auditors, consultants, and regulatory bodies as necessary.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional accounting certifications like CPA, ACCA, or CA are preferred.
• 8 to 10 years of relevant finance and accounting experience, including several years at a managerial level.
• Prior exposure to accounting firms or managing accounting firms, particularly in audit or tax domains, is highly advantageous.
• Comprehensive knowledge of financial reporting, financial controls, corporate tax, GST, statutory compliance, and audit procedures.
• Proven ability to work independently and assume full ownership of finance functions.
• Experience leading finance process improvements or ERP/system implementation initiatives is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills coupled with excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
