Finance Manager - Ethiopia

About the Role

Join Bayer as a Finance Manager based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where you'll contribute to the company's vision of "Health for all, Hunger for none." As a key member of Bayer Ethiopia's leadership, you will oversee all financial and risk management activities, providing strategic insights and comprehensive analyses to enhance business value.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting functions including fixed asset management and addressing accounting discrepancies to ensure accurate financial reports.
• Support the assessment of revenue recognition and analyze deviations in expenditures.
• Collaborate with the Finance Lead for East Africa on specialized financial matters.
• Ensure adherence to local tax regulations through timely submissions and compliance.
• Manage coordination of external audits and maintain timely statutory reporting to authorities.
• Promote a culture of compliance by reviewing internal controls across the entity.
• Guarantee accurate and timely data submission to global financial systems such as data.one, SAP, and CoFiPot alongside the finance leadership team.
• Conduct legal entity short-term financial planning, forecasting, and documentation.
• Prepare financial documents including income statements for tax and transfer pricing forecasts, cash flow statements for liquidity and impairment evaluation.
• Work to simplify forecasting processes and monitor payables and receivables rigorously.
• Provide thorough financial analytics, standard reports, and presentations to support CFO functions and business decision-making.
• Lead as an integral member of the country leadership team and oversee site administrative activities jointly with the General Services Manager for East Africa.

Collaboration

You will interact internally with various company divisions, and externally engage regularly with banks, auditors, and revenue authorities.

Desired Qualifications and Experience

• A degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Management.
• Professional certifications such as CPA or ACCA.
• Minimum of eight years’ experience in a demanding accounting environment.
• Comprehensive knowledge of tax and treasury practices, both local and global.
• Familiarity with shared service organizational cultures.
