Finance & Accounts Manager

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Finance & Accounts Manager to assume comprehensive responsibility for financial operations, accounting governance, internal controls, and cash flow management for our business activities in Cameroon. This role involves close collaboration with the General Manager and reporting directly to executive leadership, ensuring operational discipline, safeguarding profit margins, and managing working capital across local distribution, importation, and commercial functions.

• Primary Goal: Complete oversight of accounts management, daily cash flow, statutory compliance, and day-to-day finance operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily cash flow to balance payments to vendors, operational expenses, and receipt of funds.
• Implement strict credit control and debt collection practices among distributors, wholesalers, and retail clients to reduce aging receivables.
• Manage cash cycles efficiently to ensure uninterrupted support for import shipments, customs clearance, and operational liquidity.
• Handle daily accounting activities including general ledger management, purchase-to-pay processing, invoicing, and bank reconciliations.
• Collaborate with the General Manager to monitor operating costs, control local procurement spend, and prevent inventory or cash losses.
• Supervise physical stocktaking and warehouse audits, ensuring alignment between physical inventory and accounting records.
• Produce timely and accurate monthly management information system (MIS) reports, expense reviews, and trial balances for executive analysis.
• Ensure adherence to local legal and statutory requirements such as VAT, withholding taxes, corporate filings, and social security contributions, coordinating with local consultants as needed.
• Serve as the main point of contact for commercial banks, tax advisors, and external auditors.

Candidate Profile & Requirements

• Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or a related field.
• Proven experience in managing core finance and accounting functions, preferably with verifiable results.
• Previous work experience in African markets, particularly within trading, wholesale distribution, or import/export sectors, is highly preferred.
• In-depth practical knowledge of commercial transaction processing, ledger accuracy, margin monitoring, and tax-related workflows.
• Demonstrate strong stress resilience to manage operational challenges and resolve bottlenecks effectively in dynamic commercial environments.
• Exhibit integrity and assertiveness to uphold financial controls and ensure policy compliance across all departments.
• Adopt a hands-on approach, actively engaging in reconciliations, collections, and physical audits rather than delegating exclusively.
• Fluency in English for reporting and internal discussions is essential; proficiency in French is advantageous for communication with local vendors, banks, and regulators.
