Role Overview

We are currently recruiting a Field Service Engineer based in Auckland. This intermediate-level role involves installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting Sysmex equipment at customer sites throughout New Zealand. The position is suited for candidates with roughly 3 to 5 years of relevant field service experience aiming to deepen technical skills within a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Installing and servicing Sysmex instruments onsite at customer locations.
• Executing preventative maintenance, conducting repairs, diagnosing faults, and troubleshooting technical issues.
• Delivering technical support and specialist advice to customers and internal teams.
• Keeping precise service and customer records using the CRM system.
• Travelling extensively across New Zealand to fulfill installation and maintenance duties.
• Providing backup support for the South Island Field Service Engineer.
• Participating in on-call support duties within a rotating schedule.
• Liaising closely with regional headquarters in Singapore for product support and training.
• Offering remote assistance and travelling when necessary to support customers in Australia and Pacific Island areas.
• Contributing to team knowledge sharing, continuous improvement efforts, and capability development.

Candidate Profile

• Prior experience in field service engineering, ideally within clinical laboratories, healthcare, medical devices, life sciences, or similar sectors.
• Proven ability to foster strong customer relationships and deliver excellent service.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Good skills in computer hardware troubleshooting and basic IT support.
• A proactive attitude towards problem-solving and ongoing professional growth.
• Capacity to work autonomously while supporting a collaborative team culture.
• Experience mentoring or guiding team members is an advantage.
• Willingness to travel frequently and participate in an on-call rotation.
• Holding a current, clear New Zealand driver's licence.
• Formal tertiary qualifications in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related fields are highly valued.
• Availability to work standard business hours, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

Eligibility

Applicants must have legal authorization to work in New Zealand and be willing to travel domestically as well as to Australia and Pacific Islands as needed. Completion of all application and screening questions along with a cover letter is required.
