Role Summary

The position involves installing, servicing, and supporting Rapiscan X-ray screening equipment throughout the UAE and MEA region. The engineer will service and maintain all product lines related to Rapiscan’s X-Ray and Trace detection systems deployed across various projects.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and provide service support for Rapiscan’s X-ray and Trace systems in the UAE and MEA regions.
• Conduct site surveys before installation and prepare professional site assessment reports.
• Perform system assembly, diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of detection systems and subsystems, ensuring proper maintenance and escalation as needed.
• Complete technical documentation including service and engineering change reports, enter service data into databases, and comply with field modification and maintenance instructions.
• Execute preventive and corrective maintenance tasks and respond promptly to call-outs.
• Carry out detailed failure analyses including investigation, reporting, and resolution.
• Recommend spare parts to management for various service levels and intervals.
• Submit service and non-conformance reports punctually.
• Provide regular feedback to Engineering, Product Line Management, and Quality Assurance for continual improvement efforts.
• Participate in ad-hoc departmental duties and special projects as assigned.
• Engage daily with operators, technicians, and baggage handling system managers to communicate equipment status.
• Comply with all Health & Safety regulations both company-wide and on customer sites.
• Take full responsibility for technical decisions and consult Engineering or Product Line Management on technical matters when necessary.
• Act as the primary point of contact for technical inquiries or disputes and prepare technical incident reports.
• Raise, implement, and close Change Requests as required.
• Coordinate with team members and stakeholders to authorize and complete planned work.
• Offer recommendations to enhance maintenance processes and ensure high equipment availability.
• Attend technical meetings upon invitation.

• Report quality issues or defects promptly to management to facilitate corrective actions and prevent recurrences.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Postgraduate qualifications in Electrical Engineering are preferred.
• Industry-recognized IT certifications (e.g., Microsoft, Cisco) are advantageous.
• Strong general understanding of mechanical, electrical, civil, hydraulic, electronic, or complex electro-mechanical systems, or knowledge of high-voltage systems in medical or industrial contexts.
• 3-4 years of experience in a field service environment, preferably within the X-ray industry.
• Proficient knowledge of electronic and mechanical assemblies, including wiring diagrams and schematics.
• Experience with testing equipment (Digital Volt Meter) and familiarity with high voltage and X-ray producing devices is preferred.
• Effective oral and written business communication skills.
• Highly detail-oriented, well-organized, self-motivated, and adept at interpersonal communication.
• Computer proficient in Microsoft Office and capable of learning specialized software.
• Capability to work well in a team under pressure in a fast-paced setting with minimal supervision.
• Flexible availability including willingness to work non-standard hours, on-call, weekends, and holidays depending on project operational requirements.
