Field Services Engineer

Job Overview

MPG Recruitment is seeking a Field Service Engineer for a dynamic and expanding Managed Service Provider (MSP) based in Kilkenny. This role involves both onsite work at the Kilkenny office and visits to client locations, combining technical hands-on tasks with client interaction. The focus is primarily on networking infrastructure installation, configuration, and support.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver expert onsite and remote IT support for a diverse client portfolio.
• Install, configure, and perform troubleshooting on IT hardware and software systems.
• Set up network devices such as firewalls, switches, routers, and wireless access points.
• Assist senior engineers with installation projects.
• Identify opportunities to enhance clients' IT infrastructure and operational efficiency.
• Build strong relationships with clients, ensuring excellent customer service throughout.
• Maintain clear communication with clients and internal teams regarding service progress and issues.
• Document all service activities accurately in ticketing and knowledge management systems.
• Ensure compliance with service level agreements (SLA) and timely issue resolution.

Candidate Profile

• Prior experience in field engineering, IT support, or a related hands-on technical role, preferably in an MSP environment.
• Strong knowledge and practical experience with networking technologies including firewalls, switching, routing, VLANs, and Wi-Fi systems.
• Familiarity with Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365 applications, and end-user hardware support.
• Professional demeanor with confidence in face-to-face client interactions.
• Well-organized with a keen eye for detail, especially in maintaining accurate service documentation.
• Collaborative team player with enthusiasm for continuous learning and skill development.
• Possession of a full, clean driving license is mandatory.
• Networking certifications (such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, Fortinet, Meraki) or other IT qualifications are beneficial but not mandatory.

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual salary ranging from €35,000 to €45,000, adjusted for experience.
