Role Overview

As a Field Service Technician based in Auckland, New Zealand, you will perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and diagnostics on diesel and Electric Vehicle (EV) mobile equipment across both workshop and field locations. You will ensure work quality, timely service delivery, and uphold a zero-harm safety culture to help maintain vital global supply chains.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance, including warranty work, on diesel and EV powered mobile machinery following factory standards.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and perform emergency breakdown repairs using schematics, motor knowledge (AC/DC), and troubleshooting methods.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship and verify repairs through operational testing of mechanical equipment.
• Develop strong customer partnerships by delivering prompt and professional service, discussing completed work, identifying extra service opportunities, and ensuring cleanliness at job sites.
• Adhere rigorously to health, safety, and environmental policies, performing daily risk assessments and inspections, and sustaining 5S workplace organization.

Qualifications & Experience

• Trade qualification at Certificate III level in Mechanical, Plant Mechanic, or Diesel Mechanic fields, with Year 10 education preferred.
• At least five years of post-apprenticeship experience focusing on fault diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance of heavy mobile machinery such as container handlers, heavy forklifts, or earthmoving and mining equipment.
• Proficient understanding of hydraulics, electronics, drivetrains, diesel engines, and familiarity with EV systems and battery management.
• Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety, including fatigue prevention and compliance with safety regulations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work independently and manage customer interactions effectively.
• A valid manual driving licence is required; LR to MR licence, High Risk Work Licences (Forklift, Elevated Work Platform), and Automotive Air Conditioning licence are advantageous.
