Field Service Technician

Overview

We are seeking a Field Service Technician to join our team in Adelaide, South Australia. This role involves providing comprehensive maintenance, repair, and customer support for compressor equipment, ensuring both technical excellence and compliance with safety standards. The position requires commitment to after-hours support, field visits, and proactive customer engagement to drive service quality and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Offer after-hours call-out assistance and be available for callbacks during assigned duty periods.
• Conduct overnight field trips to address breakdowns, perform maintenance, and deliver customer support.
• Promote and enroll medium to long-term customers into the Air Cover preventative maintenance plans.
• Provide technical and customer support for assigned equipment internally and externally.
• Complete necessary documentation and administrative tasks promptly and accurately.
• Refer potential sales leads to the sales team to support business growth.
• Meet weekly and monthly productivity goals consistently.
• Maintain company tools, equipment, and premises in clean, orderly, and service-ready conditions.
• Train, mentor, and assist both new and existing colleagues to enhance team capabilities.
• Install, repair, and maintain a variety of compressor models.
• Support the coordination and daily operations of the GD Service Business Team, including fault finding and repairs during breakdown situations.
• Perform technical preventative maintenance and general servicing tasks effectively.
• Ensure service sites are left clean and tidy following work completion.
• Conduct risk assessments and maintain a safe working environment for yourself, colleagues, and customers.
• Comply with all relevant safety legislation and internal safety procedures rigorously.
• Work collaboratively with customer management to mitigate hazards before commencing tasks.
• Encourage and facilitate incident reporting such as near misses, accidents, or equipment damage using proper channels.
• Participate in and conduct safety audits for assigned areas regularly.
• Submit risk assessments and job safety analyses within 48 hours of completion.
• Complete daily timesheets detailing hours worked, work performed, location, and job numbers.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Certified trade qualification at Certificate III level in Fitting and Turning is mandatory.
• A minimum of five years of maintenance experience is required, preferably working with compressors or analogous equipment.
• Strong ability to communicate technical and product information clearly to both internal teams and customers.
• Intermediate proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving capabilities, including root cause analysis.
• Highly organized and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
