Key Responsibilities
- Identify, diagnose, and repair heavy construction machinery directly at field sites.
- Carry out routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on equipment and support vehicles.
- Service diesel engines, hydraulic and drivetrain systems, electrical components, and undercarriage parts.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns and emergency repair calls at various project locations.
- Document all maintenance and repair activities following equipment inspections.
- Collaborate closely with equipment operators, foremen, superintendents, and managers to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues.
- Manage upkeep of service trucks, tools, parts inventory, and maintenance records.
- Perform welding, fabrication, and component replacements as necessary.
- Conduct thorough equipment safety checks ensuring strict adherence to company safety protocols.
- Support equipment mobilization, setup, and commissioning for new projects.
- Maintain professional conduct while independently handling tasks in remote project sites.
- Attend safety meetings, participate in training sessions, and contribute to company programs.
- Complete additional duties as assigned.
Preferred Equipment Experience
- Proficiency with Caterpillar machinery such as excavators, dozers, loaders, motor graders, rollers, and haul trucks.
- Experience with John Deere equipment including excavators, dozers, loaders, and articulated trucks.
- Familiarity with crushers and screening plants operations.
- Knowledge of paving and asphalt machinery.
- Skill in handling skid steers and compact equipment.
- Experience working with service trucks and other support equipment.
Qualifications
- Preferred experience of 3 to 5 years in heavy construction equipment maintenance and repair.
- Strong abilities in diagnostics and troubleshooting.
- Experience with both Caterpillar and John Deere equipment is highly favored.
- Solid understanding of hydraulic, electrical, diesel engine, and powertrain systems.
- Able to interpret service manuals, schematics, and diagnostic data efficiently.
- Valid driver's license is mandatory; commercial driver’s license (CDL) is advantageous.
- Welding and fabrication skills are beneficial.
- Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills required.
Travel Expectations
- This role is primarily based remotely in field locations.
- Significant travel is expected to various projects.
- Must be prepared to stay away from home for lengthy periods depending on project needs.
- Overnight travel and flexibility to work extended shifts, weekends, and emergency repairs as needed are essential.
Physical Demands
- Regularly lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Climb on heavy machinery and operate in physically challenging environments.
- Tasks include standing, walking, kneeling, bending, crawling, and working in confined spaces.
- Work occurs outdoors regardless of weather conditions.
- Capable of sustaining physically strenuous work for long durations.
