Job description
Job Responsibilities
As a Fibre Engineer, you will be responsible for the complete lifecycle of optical fiber networks, including installation, testing, maintenance, and restoration tasks to ensure optimal network performance and connectivity.
- Lay, route, dress, and install fiber cables according to specific site requirements.
- Carry out fusion splicing and fiber jointing operations to connect fiber cables efficiently.
- Perform fiber termination activities including OTDR-based testing, patching, and connectorization of fiber links.
- Utilize testing tools such as OTDR, Power Meter, Light Source, and VFL to pinpoint and diagnose fiber faults.
- Troubleshoot various fiber-related issues including cuts, signal losses, bending losses, and high attenuation.
- Respond swiftly to emergency fiber cuts and work towards restoring network connectivity within designated SLA/TAT.
- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on Optical Fiber Cable (OFC) networks to ensure reliability.
- Maintain comprehensive network documentation including fiber routes, splice schematics, OTDR reports, joint details, and fault logs.
- Collaborate and coordinate with Network Operations Center (NOC), field teams, contractors, and customers during installation and restoration activities.
- Adhere strictly to quality standards and safety protocols to ensure safe and efficient fiber installation and handling.
- Manage materials such as fiber cables, joints, closures, connectors, and patch cords responsibly on-site.
- Undertake site visits across various locations for installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and restoration assignments.
