Role Overview

The Fiber Technician will work full-time on-site in Dubai, taking charge of installing, terminating, and maintaining fiber optic cabling for ELV and home automation projects. Daily responsibilities include routing and pulling fiber cables, performing splicing and testing, diagnosing and resolving fiber connectivity problems, and ensuring adherence to project technical guidelines and safety procedures.

The position requires interpreting technical drawings, collaborating closely with engineers and other technicians, and documenting all installation and maintenance activities. The technician will also aid in system upgrades, troubleshoot network performance issues, and contribute recommendations for fiber infrastructure best practices on client sites.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Comprehensive understanding of fiber optic infrastructure, including fiber and optics principles, network design, and performance considerations.
• Practical experience handling cables and cabling tasks such as pulling, terminating, labeling, and managing structured cabling in various environments.
• Proficient in troubleshooting fiber link faults and connectivity problems using diagnostic tools and testing methods.
• Familiarity with Extra-Low Voltage systems including CCTV, access control, and networking, and knowledge of how fiber optics integrates within these systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, floor plans, and cable layout schedules, while following installation standards and safety regulations.
• Possessing a technical diploma or certification in telecommunications, networking, or fiber optics; industry-recognized fiber certifications would be advantageous.
• Prior field experience as a Fiber Technician or related telecom/cabling role, especially on commercial or residential projects.
• Good communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment on-site in Dubai.
