Job Overview
The Facilities Management Director will take charge of delivering comprehensive facilities management services in a large and intricate operational environment. This leadership role involves supervising hard and soft facilities management functions, overseeing asset and contract management, and ensuring effective project execution through external service providers.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and manage teams and contracted service providers focused on facility operations.
- Develop strategic plans, annual budgets, and operational performance goals.
- Enforce adherence to organizational policies, health, safety and environment (HS&E) standards, and operational mandates.
- Drive team performance, foster development, and ensure service quality standards are met.
- Maintain robust relationships with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Supervise technical maintenance activities including mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and critical system infrastructure.
- Apply best practice maintenance methodologies and uphold service quality benchmarks.
- Manage planned system shutdowns, outages, and implement risk reduction measures within a high-availability context.
- Oversee defect liability and warranty periods effectively.
- Control soft facilities management services such as cleaning and operational support, ensuring contractor compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Monitor service delivery performance and initiate continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead asset management programs aligned with ISO 55000 standards, optimizing asset lifecycle and value.
- Manage facilities management contracts and vendor performance for optimal service outcomes.
- Coordinate operations through helpdesk and service management platforms to ensure timely resolution of service requests and organized operations.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs), maintain asset uptime, and assess overall service performance.
- Prepare and present operational performance reports and updates to relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Property Management, Operations Management, Asset Management, or Business Management.
- At least 10 years of proven experience managing facilities within large, complex, and high-demand settings.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating large-scale FM operations and directing contractor services, preferably in regulated and mission-critical environments.
Core Knowledge and Skills
- Thorough understanding of facilities and property management practices.
- Expertise in operating within large-scale or critical operational environments.
- Proficiency in asset management systems and lifecycle management.
- Strong contract and vendor management capabilities.
- Experience in project and operational management.
- Competence in performance tracking and KPI evaluation.
- Familiarity with ISO certifications such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 55001.
