Expert Algorithm Engineer - Marketplace Intelligence & Data

About the Team

The Marketplace Intelligence and Data team strives to develop sustainable and efficient data and intelligence products that boost Shopee’s business growth. This team spearheads efforts in constructing the e-commerce data warehouse, merchant and operational data products, all-channel traffic data, and various product algorithms. These encompass areas such as product release optimization, SPU library management, marketing algorithms including Merchandising, Product Selection, Recommendations, User Profiling, Evaluation Algorithms, and fundamental AI capabilities like Machine Translation, Speech and Image Algorithms, and Real-person Authentication.

Role Overview

As an Expert Algorithm Engineer, you will lead the architecture and enhancement of critical algorithms focused on AIGC detection, media forensics, face intelligence, liveness detection, deepfake defense, document understanding, fraud detection, multimodal reasoning, and AI agents. You will be responsible for delivering end-to-end algorithmic solutions and ensuring seamless transition from research to production environments. This role demands setting technical directions in multimodal and vision-language models, trustworthy AI, biometric security, generative model detection, and provenance analytics.

In addition, you will mentor senior engineering staff and maintain a high technical standard for pivotal algorithmic decisions. Close collaboration with product and engineering teams will ensure alignment of algorithm strategies with business goals and impactful outcomes.

Candidate Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Technology, or related disciplines.
• Minimum of three years of full-time experience specializing in Algorithm or Machine Learning Engineering.
• Preferably experienced in developing robust, high-impact large language model (LLM) or AI products.
• Demonstrated deep technical expertise in relevant areas.
• Strong proficiency and practical experience with contemporary deep learning frameworks.
• Proven leadership in driving large-scale systems from conception through production stages.
• Excellent decision-making ability in complex and ambiguous problem domains.
• A strong sense of ownership and a forward-thinking approach towards long-term objectives.
