Role Overview
This full-time, on-site position based in Melbourne, VIC, demands experienced SIL and complex support workers to assist NDIS participants with varied requirements. Responsibilities include delivering high-quality, person-focused support within Supported Independent Living settings. Duties involve aiding with daily living tasks, personal care, and facilitating community involvement. The role requires managing cases with complex, high-intensity needs by adhering to clinical guidelines and behavior support plans, while ensuring precise documentation aligned with NDIS and organization protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centred assistance in Supported Independent Living facilities.
- Support participant engagement in daily living activities and community participation.
- Implement behavior support plans and clinical directions tailored to complex needs.
- Maintain accurate and timely records and reports compliant with NDIS standards.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, families, and other stakeholders.
- Promote safety, dignity, independence, and choice of participants at all times.
- Contribute to a trauma-informed and recovery-oriented care environment.
- Participate actively in supervision sessions and ongoing training programs.
- Adhere strictly to safeguarding, risk management, and compliance procedures.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Proven background in SIL, complex care, or high-intensity NDIS support roles with emphasis on person-centred care.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to foster trust, empower clients, and coordinate with families and partners.
- Strong dedication to safeguarding participant rights, safety, and dignity.
- Clear and professional communication abilities, including accurate documentation and liaison with clinical/allied health teams.
- Competency in using technical tools such as care management software, digital documentation platforms, and basic assistive technologies.
- Relevant certifications in disability, community services, mental health, nursing, or related fields (Certificate III/IV or higher).
- Sound understanding of NDIS frameworks, trauma-informed care, recovery principles, and behavior support strategies.
- Current Working With Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening clearance, valid First Aid/CPR qualifications, and compliance with other mandatory checks.
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and sleepover shifts.
