About the Role

The Denver Urban Renewal Authority (DURA) is seeking an Executive Director to lead its mission in fostering Denver's economic growth through strategic redevelopment, investment, and public-private partnerships. This leadership position demands guiding the organization’s strategy, managing operations, overseeing finances, and representing DURA publicly. The Executive Director will work closely with the Board of Commissioners to deliver on strategic priorities, enhance DURA's profile, strengthen relationships with stakeholders, and manage complex redevelopment initiatives citywide.

Responsibilities

  • Provide visionary leadership and set strategic direction for the Authority.
  • Oversee project management and maintain a diverse portfolio of redevelopment initiatives.
  • Engage and build partnerships with external stakeholders including developers, community groups, and government entities.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Board of Commissioners to align organizational objectives and policies.
  • Lead organizational operations ensuring effective management of staff and resources.
  • Manage financial stewardship, budgeting, and ensure fiscal responsibility.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree mandatory; advanced degree preferred in fields such as public administration, business administration, finance, real estate, urban planning, law, or economic development.
  • At least 10 years of progressive leadership experience in urban redevelopment, real estate or economic development, public finance, community development, or related disciplines.
  • Proven senior leadership capability overseeing strategy, operations, and organizational priorities within complex settings like public agencies or quasi-governmental organizations.
  • Experience collaborating with boards, governmental officials, and community stakeholders effectively.
  • Knowledge and experience with redevelopment financing mechanisms, including Tax Increment Financing (TIF).

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary Range: $230,000 to $310,000 annually.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, long-term disability and accidental death & dismemberment insurance.
  • Retirement plans offering 401(a) with optional 457 plan participation.
