About the Company
The Event Manager role involves overseeing the complete IT Event Management lifecycle to enable timely detection, monitoring, correlation, and response to both infrastructure and application events. This management helps to prevent service interruptions and mitigates operational impacts.
Role Overview
The primary responsibility is to govern and own the entire Event Management process within IT. This position requires close monitoring of events generated from various technology sources like infrastructure, applications, networks, cloud environments, and monitoring tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Take complete ownership of the end-to-end Event Management operations.
- Track and manage events originating from infrastructure, applications, network, cloud services, and monitoring tools.
- Set and maintain rules for event classification, prioritization, correlation, filtering, and escalation.
- Ensure that actionable events are identified promptly and routed efficiently to the correct support teams.
- Collaborate with Incident, Problem, Change, and Monitoring teams to facilitate event resolution.
- Manage event noise by minimizing false positives, duplicates, and recurring alerts, focusing on optimization.
- Guarantee effective automation of event-to-incident processes and integration with IT Service Management platforms.
- Analyze event trends and patterns to detect potential issues that could impact services.
- Support initiatives related to automation, alert tuning, and improvements within monitoring frameworks to enhance operational efficiency.
- Maintain comprehensive event management procedures, documentation, and operational runbooks.
- Prepare governance reports, offering insights on event volume, trends, automation success, and opportunities for operational improvements.
- Lead efforts for continuous process improvement and maturity enhancements in Event Management.
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of 10 years overall IT Operations or IT Service Management experience.
- At least 7 years dedicated to Event and Monitoring Management.
Required Skills
- Solid understanding of ITIL Event Management frameworks and practices.
- Hands-on experience with monitoring and event management tools such as Splunk, Solarwinds, Dynatrace, or similar.
- Expertise in event correlation, alert suppression techniques, threshold management, and automation.
- Familiarity with integrating monitoring tools with ITSM platforms, preferably ServiceNow.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities, along with effective coordination and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience collaborating across multiple technology domains and support teams.
