About Uthabiti Africa
Uthabiti Africa is dedicated to revolutionizing childcare services across Africa by fostering robust ecosystems and inclusive markets that support women, children, and communities. Collaborating with governments, grassroots networks, and civil society organizations, the group aims to enhance access to affordable, quality childcare. Their initiatives advance gender equality, early childhood development, and economic opportunities, with particular emphasis on empowering female childcare workers, influencing childcare legislation, promoting foundational literacy, early learning, and maternal and child health. Since 2019, their work spans Kenya, Malawi, Uganda, Ghana, and Ethiopia, rolling out innovative programs like MamaPlus, the Collaborative Action for Childcare, the Collaborative SACCO, and the Network for Women in Childcare. Their signature events, including the Africa Childcare Forum and the Women in Childcare Forum, unite leaders and practitioners to cultivate Africa's care economy and promote sustainable childcare systems.
